Overview
The ESE101 examination assesses a candidate’s foundational knowledge, conceptual understanding, and introductory applied competence in e-commerce systems. It evaluates understanding of e-commerce concepts, business models, technologies, payment systems, digital marketing, and operational processes within digital commerce environments. The examination does not assess practical platform configuration, coding, or system implementation.
The examination is designed to validate readiness for progression within the Edusyte E-Commerce Specialist certification pathway.
Qualification Statement
A qualified ESE101 candidate demonstrates foundational conceptual understanding of how e-commerce systems operate as integrated business and technology environments. This includes the ability to interpret business models, platforms, payment systems, digital marketing activities, and operational workflows in structured real-world scenarios.
The qualification reflects conceptual comprehension and basic applied interpretation, not technical configuration, development, or system implementation.
Certification Progression and Credit Recognition
Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70% to pass the ESE101 examination and qualify for progression within the Edusyte E-Commerce Specialist Certification pathway.

Scenario-based questions will assess interpretation of e-commerce situations, not technical execution.

A candidate is considered well-prepared for the ESE101 examination if they have:
- Completed the ESEC101 – E-Commerce Fundamentals course or equivalent structured training
